Fans React to Troubling Jaylen Brown Injury Situation

Going into this year’s NBA playoffs, most felt the Boston Celtics had an excellent chance of repeating as world champions.

But in the second round against the New York Knicks, they lost the first two games at home after blowing double-digit second-half leads in both games. They ended up losing in five games, and they also lost star forward Jayson Tatum in Game 4 to a ruptured Achilles that will threaten his availability for next season.

Tatum wasn’t the only key Celtics player who suffered an injury recently. Jaylen Brown reportedly played through a partially torn meniscus during the playoffs, per Ramona Shelburne.

Fans on X were in disbelief.

“Is this real ? 😭” one fan wrote.

“I’m supposed to believe this?” a second fan wrote.

“Oh nahh we ain’t tryna hear that😂” a third fan wrote.

“here we go with the excuses,” another fan replied.

“Ok these are fine but can someone explain they keep announcing this AFTER the series is over and team has lost?” a fifth fan wrote.

“Oh,” another fan wrote. “That team is definitely cursed. It’s official.”

Brown and Tatum have combined to give Boston one of the NBA’s most potent star duos over the last few years. Brown earned his third straight All-Star nod and fourth All-Star appearance overall this season and averaged 22.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists a game.

He was named the Finals MVP last June as Boston defeated the Dallas Mavericks in five games to claim its 18th world championship.

Brown will have to take on a lot more of the team’s workload next season with Tatum on the shelf and significant changes expected to occur to its starting lineup. As a result, the Celtics’ chances of winning it all again any time soon are in serious doubt, but Brown expressed a sense of optimism following their playoff elimination at the hands of New York.
