Gary Lineker has spotted a problem with Tottenham signing Mohammed Kudus from West Ham, Alan Shearer agrees
After some intense negotiations between Daniel Levy and David Sullivan, Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal to sign Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United.
Tottenham settled on a £55m deal for Mohammed Kudus and the 24-year-old will soon undergo a medical in N17.
Although Spurs have bought Kota Takai from Kawasaki Frontale, Mohammed Kudus is the first big-money signing of the Thomas Frank era.
Kudus will presumably come in to take a starting spot on the right side of Tottenham’s attack, potentially replacing Brennan Johnson in the eleven.
And whilst Kudus has often shown his rich ability in the Premier League, he perhaps wasn’t quite at his best throughout the 2024/25 campaign.

That considered, both Gary Lineker and Alan Shearer have now discussed Tottenham’s move for Kudus on ‘The Rest Is Football’ podcast.
And whilst both were convinced about Kudus’ talent, the duo did raise their concerns about the West Ham star’s inconsistency at times.
Kudus’ numbers were considerably better during his first season in the Premier League, perhaps explaining why Lineker said he can be somewhat ‘hit and miss’.
Lineker said: “Kudus is very talented, a bit hit and miss, I think at times, but he may only get better.
Shearer: “I would imagine he would do under Thomas Frank at Spurs. So yeah, he could be a good signing, but you’re right, he has to do it on a more regular basis.”

Of course, Spurs’ business won’t stop at Kudus, and Tottenham are being linked with Yoane Wissa as well, one of Frank’s former stars at Brentford.
Tottenham only really have one recognised striker in Dominic Solanke, explaining why someone like Yoane Wissa would improve their squad.
And although Lineker had some doubts about Kudus, he seemed pretty certain that Wissa would be an excellent addition for Frank in north London.
Lineker said: “The interesting one that’s just broken is that Spurs are quite close to signing Wissa, and obviously that would be Thomas Frank’s preferred option, I’m sure.
“He had him at Brentford, didn’t he? I think I’d really like Wissa. I think he’s a proper goal scorer.”
An exciting summer for Spurs, and Levy will be looking to prove that the club does have serious ambitions in their new era under Frank.
