Out of favour Tottenham star expected to head for exit as he has no place in Thomas Frank’s squad.
It looks like Yves Bissouma’s future at Tottenham has reached a dead end. The Mali international has already fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Frank due to disciplinary issues. He was banished from the matchday squad for the North London club’s first game of the season against PSG.
The 28-year-old never quite managed to showcase his potential at N17 following his high-profile switch from Brighton. Bissouma was quite comfortably one of the best #6 in the Premier League during his time with the Seagulls. But the Malian failed to replicate the same form he showed for Brighton during his time with the Lilywhites in recent seasons.
Some may say that playing for Spurs was a big step for him, and he could not handle the pressure that came with donning the Lilywhite jersey. However, there is an argument to be made that Bissouma did showcase glimpses of his talent for the North London club. His contribution during the latter stages of the Europa League last season proved to be important as Tottenham won the competition against all odds.
Yves Bissouma expected to leave Tottenham in the coming days
It was reported earlier that Yves Bissouma is linked with a move away from the club, despite the transfer window closing for Premier League clubs. The Mali international is on the radar of many top Saudi and Turkish clubs, and it looks like that will be his final destination as he looks to rejuvenate his career.
Now, football correspondent Pete O’Rourke believes that Spurs are focused on offloading Bissouma in the coming days. Speaking to Football Insider, O’Rourke said,
“There would be potential for Bissouma to be moved on before the Saudi Arabia and Turkey [transfer] windows close, that is expected.”
The journalist added,
“He’s out of favour under Thomas Frank and was dropped from their UEFA Super Cup squad, due to being late for various meetings and training. He hasn’t made the best of impressions on Thomas Frank, and he’ll probably find it hard to get into that Tottenham midfield.”
Pete O’Rourke expects Tottenham to accept proposals from Saudi and Turkey for Yves Bissouma’s potential departure. The journalist adds that the Mali international has fallen out of favour under Thomas Frank, with the Danish tactician also leaving him out of the Champions League squad. O’Rourke also believes that Bissouma will look to move to pastures new as he will not get game time at N17 this season.
