Tottenham Hotspur had a very interesting summer transfer window to say the least.

Indeed, Spurs had a tumultuous summer as they pursued a number of targets that didn’t quite come off.

Eberechi Eze snubbed Tottenham to join Arsenal, while the Morgan Gibbs-White saga was incredibly dramatic and ultimately ended with the England international signing a new contract with Nottingham Forest.

However, Spurs did end up making some exciting signings as the likes of Joao Palhinha, Randal Kolo Muani and Xavi Simons all arrived.

Speaking on The Football Exchange, Troy Deeney has been discussing Tottenham’s current situation, and he says there’s one position he thinks Spurs should have addressed this summer.

Deeney was asked which player Tottenham should have signed from one of their big six rivals.

The pundit immediately said Spurs need a new goalkeeper, noting that Gianluigi Donnarumma would be a great signing.

However, Deeney also noted that Kepa Arrizabalaga would be a shrewd addition from Arsenal, stating that he’d potentially trust Kepa more than Vicario in a big game.

Kepa joined Arsenal this summer for just £5m.

“One player Tottenham should have acquired from the other five clubs?” Deeney was asked.

“Goalkeeper. We’re going to I’m going to go with Donnarumma. I have to,” Deeney said.

“Even Kepa. I think he was good. When you look at it would you take Vicario over Kepa?

“If your game is going into a game where you need to win, who are you going with?

Tottenham might already have Guglielmo Vicario’s replacement

Deeney called for Tottenham to get a new goalkeeper, but the reality is that Spurs may already have Guglielmo Vicario’s replacement in the squad.

Indeed, Antonin Kinsky is a promising young goalkeeper, and Kinsky has already earned praise from Thomas Frank.

“He’s a very good goalkeeper, very pleased with him,” said Frank.

“We are privileged to have three good goalkeepers in Vicario, Antonin and Brandon. There was good competition last year. Clearly we need good keepers in the squad. Antonin, in my opinion, has a great future ahead of him and he is clearly a Tottenham player this season,” he added.

Vicario has been solid enough this season for Tottenham, but if Spurs are thinking about replacing the Italian, perhaps they should look no further than Kinsky.
