Tottenham left Norway with a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Bodø/Glimt on Tuesday night, but the performance has sparked a wave of criticism for manager Thomas Frank. Spurs were staring at defeat after Jens Petter Hauge’s brace put the hosts 2-0 up, before Micky van de Ven pulled one back and a late own goal rescued a point.

Despite the comeback, Sky Sports reporter Michael Bridge blasted Frank’s team selection — singling out his decision to start Brennan Johnson and Wilson Odobert while leaving Mohammed Kudus out of the XI.

Bridge argued that Spurs missed the sharpness and direct threat Kudus brings from the right flank. “Kudus is the one player who can beat a man and create something out of nothing on that side,” he said. “Instead, Frank went with Johnson and Odobert together, which left us predictable and easy to contain. It played right into Bodø/Glimt’s hands.”

Throughout the match, Tottenham struggled to impose themselves in wide areas, with Johnson and Odobert often making similar runs and failing to stretch the opposition defence effectively. Without Kudus’ trademark dribbling and ability to cut inside onto his left foot, Spurs lacked variety in the final third.

Frank defended his decision after the game, stressing the need for rotation in a demanding schedule. He praised his players for showing “resilience and character” to fight back in a hostile environment, insisting the point could prove vital in the long run.

Fans, however, were far less forgiving of the choice. Many argued that leaving out Kudus — widely considered Spurs’ most dangerous right-sided attacker — was a major tactical mistake.
