Isaac Hayden will look to secure a move away from Newcastle United during the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old hadn’t made a senior appearance in 2024-25 before representing Jamaica during the recent international break. After making his debut as a substitute in their 1-0 CONCACAF Nations League first-leg defeat to the USA, Hayden started the second-leg in St Louis but couldn’t prevent a 4-2 loss.
“Not the result we all wanted, but the bigger picture is there for us to focus on,” Hayden reacted. “Fantastic to represent Jamaica and be integrated into such a great group of players and staff.

And that is expected to be Hayden’s final senior outing of 2024. The midfielder has not played a competitive match at club level since his loan spell at Championship side Queens Park Rangers came to an end in May.
Hayden returned to Tyneside in the summer but is ineligible to play for Newcastle in the Premier League after being left out of the 25-man squad. The only time Hayden has represented the club since December 2021 was when the under-21s beat Halifax Town in the National League Cup seven weeks ago.
So, for the next month or so, the player’s career is once again at standstill until he is given the opportunity to find a new club.
Hayden has made 171 appearances for Newcastle since joining from Arsenal in 2016 and remains under contract until 2026. He spent the 2022-23 campaign on loan at Norwich City before temporary spells at Standard Liege and QPR last season.
A loan move would appear to be Hayden’s most likely route out of Tyneside, unless the player and Newcastle can reach an agreement to mutually terminate his contract which would allow him to join another team on a free transfer.
