TOTTENHAM HANDED HUGE BLOW AHEAD OF SOUTHAMPTON CLASH AS FOUR KEY PLAYERS RULED OUT BY ANGE POSTECOGLOU.

Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Cristian Romero will miss out for Tottenham against Manchester City on Saturday.

Spurs have lost their past two matches, which includes a shock 2-1 Premier League defeat to Ipswich Town at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium [10 November].

Therefore, Postecoglou will be keen to get his side back to winning ways after an international break which would have felt like an eternity at Hotspur Way.

However, Spurs don’t have the most favourable fixture ahead of them, as the North London side travel to the Etihad Stadium to take on Pep Guardiola’s side on Saturday [23 November].

And that already-difficult fixture has just become much harder after Postecoglou confirmed that Romero won’t be available, as called by John Wenham while speaking exclusively to Tottenham News [15 November].

Speaking ahead of the clash with City, Postecoglou said [via Football London, 22 November], “Romero won’t be right for tomorrow’s game. We’re hoping he’ll be right for next week. Then sort of the main ones who were out before that are still out.”

Cristian Romero to miss out for Tottenham against Manchester City

Romero is a key player in North London.

As a result, his absence will be felt against City, especially with Micky van de Ven also not available, with Postecoglou previously confirming that the Dutchman is not expected to return until mid-December [via Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 21 November].

While Romero wasn’t at his best against Ipswich, his overall display still demonstrates the quality he possesses.

As per Sofascore, the 26-year-old made two clearances and completed 87 per cent of his passes, with one of those key.

In addition, he won 100 per cent of his ground duels and four of his six aerial duels, while he also played three accurate long balls forward and won three fouls for his side, without giving one away himself.

However, Postecoglou won’t be able to call on the Argentina international against City.

As a result, it looks as though a very makeshift defence could take shape at the Etihad Stadium.
