Tottenham injuries force transfer development with new signing to jet into UK.
Bryan King believes injuries have forced Tottenham to bring Yang Min-hyeok to the club ahead of schedule.
The ex-Spurs scout doesn’t expect the 18-year-old, who could make his debut for the club as early as January, to have a massive impact this season.
As reported by Mike McGrath via X [6 December], Tottenham are set to fly Yang to the UK ahead of Christmas in preparation for the South Korean to officially join the club in January.
And King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – claims the injury situation in North London has forced Spurs’ hand when it comes to Yang.
“What has caused Spurs to rush Yang to England,” King asked.
“I’d imagine the list of injuries, which includes the likes of Richarlison and Wilson Odobert. However, I don’t think that Yang is going to be the player to turn things around for the club.
“Obviously Spurs feel as though this is someone worth bringing to the club ahead of schedule. However, it is hardly a massive decision, is it? It is only a matter of weeks before he is meant to come anyway.
“I think he is being brought in because of the injury situation.”
Yang Min-hyeok to make debut for Tottenham in January?
It appears as though Spurs are eager to get Yang integrated in North London as quickly as possible. Ange Postecoglou has demonstrated that he is willing to give young players a chance so far this season.
Therefore, there is every chance that Yang could feature regularly in the first team between now and the end of the season. Considering the pressure that Postecoglou is under, the Australian could certainly use some fresh faces.
However, Yang is still incredibly young and will need time to settle in at Tottenham. Moving from South Korea to England at the age of 18 is a big change, no matter what profession you are in.
As a result, it is important that Postecoglou, and more importantly Spurs supporters, are patient with the forward and allow him adequate time to get adjusted before expecting big things from him.
