Newcastle star Joelinton needed hospital treatment after his ugly clash with Brentford defender Nathan Collins last night.
Horrific freeze frames have now emerged on social media showing Collins clipping Joelinton with a flying elbow before the defender clearly stamps on the South American’s head as he lays defenceless on the ground. It is little wonder that Joelinton immediately tried to confront the Republic of Ireland international.
The Brazil international had been elbowed to the floor by the Bees defender who then followed through with a stamp that incredibly went unpunished by referee Samuel Barrott. The incident left Joelinton absolutely livid in the first half in front of the Gallowgate End and the midfield enforcer had to be dragged back by team-mates as the officials failed to act.

Howe said: “Joey had a cut to his ear. Which I think was quite nasty. So he had to go off and get that looked at.”
Joelinton was not spotted in the team photograph after the game as he was still getting treatment. The former Hoffenheim star was replaced by Joe Willock in the second half.
Howe was happy with Willock and hinted there is more positive news to come with returning players. He said: “I thought Joe Willock looked bright when he came on today, so that’s a big plus for him. Sven (Botman) is not too far away, and hopefully that can be added competition for the centre-back positions.”
Joelinton is unavailable anyway for the trip to Ipswich Town this weekend due to suspension so will get the opportunity to rest up before the clash against Aston Villa on Boxing Day. He spent time at the hospital having the wounds looked at and needing stitches after leaving the pitch with a bloodied face before coming off.
His absence in the team on Saturday will bring his 100 per cent appearance record in the Premier League this season to an end.
