Tottenham enter race to sign ‘future Ballon d’Or winner’ who ripped rivals Liverpool apart.

Tottenham Hotspur reportedly show interest in signing a star player dubbed a future Ballon d’Or winner

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly entered the race to sign one of world football’s most exciting talents, as they look to bolster their squad during the January transfer window.

Spurs are enduring a tough campaign, currently sitting 12th in the Premier League table. The North London club is 12 points behind fourth-placed Chelsea and 22 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool. In a bid to turn their fortunes around, Tottenham are seeking reinforcements to improve their squad.

Tottenham linked with a move for ‘future Ballon d’Or winner’

Reports suggest Spurs are targeting Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who has been widely tipped as a future Ballon d’Or winner.

According to French outlet L’Équipe, Tottenham face strong competition from Paris Saint-Germain for the signature of the 23-year-old Georgian winger, who has been in exceptional form for Napoli.

Kvaratskhelia is regarded as one of the brightest young talents in Europe. Napoli teammate Victor Osimhen previously heaped praise on him, saying:

“Everyone loves him in the dressing room, not only for what he does on the pitch but also for what he does off the pitch.

“I believe he can win the Ballon d’Or in the next few years. I hope he also brings many successes to Napoli.”

However, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano delivered an update on Thursday, which could be a setback for Spurs. Romano wrote on social media:

“Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has definitely opened doors to a January exit. PSG, on it. Paris Saint-Germain, favorites and in direct contact with Napoli — as revealed today.

“Package around €80m discussed while Kvara’s camp in talks with PSG over personal terms, progressing well.”

Kvaratskhelia has already demonstrated his ability to perform on the biggest stage. His performance in Napoli’s 4-1 Champions League victory over Liverpool in 2022 showcased his exceptional talent, as he caused significant problems for the Reds’ defense.

Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp praised Kvaratskhelia after that match, saying:

“He’s a good player. Really quick, and you have to defend him together in these moments. When he has the advantage of the first movement, then he is already gone.

“You have to try to be there in the moment when the ball arrives, but if you cannot do that then you need to be protected because he has speed, he is cheeky, he goes inside, he can go outside—that makes it always really difficult.”

With Tottenham now competing with PSG for Kvaratskhelia’s signature, the January transfer window could prove decisive. The Georgian’s arrival would be a huge boost to Spurs’ ambitions for the remainder of the season and beyond.
