Jack Grealish described Manchester City’s performance as “weird” after Pep Guardiola’s side threw away a two-goal lead against PSG in the Champions League on Wednesday evening.
Grealish, 29, was introduced ahead of the second half and even put City 1-0 up on 50 minutes.
The former Aston Villa man then had a hand in City’s second, when his pass was deflected by Joao Neves into the path of Erling Haaland, who finished with aplomb.
However, Guardiola’s side capitulated when Ousmane Dembele pulled one back three minutes later. Bradley Barcola drew the home side level on the hour mark before Neves, 20, put Luis Enrique’s side 3-2 up on 78 minutes.
And with the game’s final kick, Goncalo Ramos added a fourth after the goal was initially ruled out for offside only to be overturned after a VAR check.
Grealish cut a frustrated figure during his post-match interview with TNT Sports.
“Usually in those moments we’re so good, it’s happened too many times this season where we’ve gone one, two, three goals up and we’ve not be able to control the game and see it out,” said Grealish.
“It’s weird because in every other season, we’ve been so good in those moments, managing the game. I don’t know if it’s a confidence thing. For most of this season, we’ve not been at the levels we know we can be. It’s down to ourselves to try and change that moving forward and to try and win the game next week.

“It’s difficult, I don’t know if it’s a confidence thing, we had so many players on the pitch when we went 2-0 up that are so good at keeping the ball. We’ve not been doing that recently.
“Credit to Paris, they were so good, very energetic. A lot better than I thought – I don’t mean that in a bad way but they were top tonight, a really good team. I think they deserved to win.”
The Premier League outfit will take on Belgian side Club Brugge on matchday eight next Wednesday evening at the Etihad.
City currently sit outside the play-off places in 25th position. Guardiola’s side need to win next week, if they lose or draw, they will be out.
