Man United star posts shock photo in a Tottenham shirt on his Instagram page
Kobbie Mainoo’s 20th birthday post has revealed a shock Tottenham Hotspur connection, amid uncertainty over his Manchester United future.
Tottenham Hotspur could do with a few extra pairs of hands in several areas of the pitch. The midfield is one that needs extra depth, especially in the holding midfield role.
In fact, it has been reported that Spurs are eyeing a marquee midfield signing in the summer window.
Of course, this comes as no surprise, as Yves Bissouma has struggled to maintain consistency this season, with good performances from the midfielder being few and far between.
While Spurs continue to search for their marquee signing, one of the brightest midfielders in England has revealed a shock connection to the Lilywhites.
Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo’s future has been up in the air in recent months, with reports linking the player with a move away from Old Trafford (MEN).
The England starlet’s game time has been significantly reduced this season, with the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Manuel Ugarte, Casemiro, and Christian Eriksen playing ahead of him.
The midfielder has now posted a picture to celebrate his 20th birthday, but there is one surprising twist… it does not feature a Man United shirt. Instead, a young Mainoo can be seen sporting a Spurs 1995/97 retro shirt, hinting at a possible past connection with Tottenham.

Kobbie Mainoo would be a dream signing for Spurs
Of course, the young midfielder comes with huge talent and would be a huge coup for Spurs, as he clearly has the technical ability to thrive in the Premier League.
His quality was once more on full display when the youngster came on in the clash against Lyon, and curled in a brilliant strike to level the score at 4-4 on the night, a game United eventually won 7-6 on aggregate.
The post might come as a shock to a few, but if there is a chance that he could be prised away from the Manchester club, then he has to be on Tottenham’s radar.
It is understood that either United or Mainoo would need to compromise to continue the relationship between the two parties, but so far, that has not been forthcoming.
A parting of ways could be agreed as being best for both parties too, considering the Financial Fair Play (FFP) advantages United would receive for selling one of their academy graduates.
