Daniel Farke hits back at Leeds United sack rumors with a brutal response.

Daniel Farke’s position as Leeds United manager continues to remain unresolved as the end of the Championship season beckons.

With Leeds now officially promoted to the Premier League, the club has the chance to lift the Championship title on Saturday when they face Plymouth.

However, this could also be the final game for Farke as rumours circulate that he could be sacked.

With the German’s future still unclear, Farke has now responded the the growing rumours that he faces the boot despite promotion.

Farke feels ‘he doesn’t need to defend himself’

Since the news broke that Farke could be sacked by Leeds, little has been done by the club to quash them.

Chairman Paraag Marathe recently snubbed a Sky Sports interview when he could’ve backed Farke, which has only served to heighten speculation.

The German’s record in the Premier League is seen as the biggest concern. Despite now overseeing three promotions, he has also been relegated from the English top flight twice.

This concern has been heightened given that every promoted team has been immediately relegated in the past two seasons.

Now, Farke has been given the opportunity to respond to these rumours in the pre-match presser for their match against Plymouth.

In his press conference on Thursday (1 May), Farke said: “I don’t feel the need to defend myself. I don’t want to come across arrogant.

“If someone is doubting or thinks I’m not the best manager for Leeds United, then so be it. I’m just convinced in what I want to do.”

Sacking Farke would massively backfire for Leeds United

If Leeds United do sack Farke, it would no doubt backfire on the club.

Many managers would already be sceptical about moving to the Peacocks, given the difficulty adapting to the top flight from the Championship. However, sacking a manager who may end up winning a title would no doubt put more coaches off the position.

It is also unfair to judge Farke on his past record in the Premier League. Norwich City were largely expected to go down in both seasons.

The club even sold their best player, Emi Buendia, as soon as they returned to the division.

Leeds are in a completely different situation and could easily stay up with a good transfer window.

Simply put, the club have to give Farke a chance in the Premier League, or the repercussions could seriously damage the reputation of the Yorkshire side.
