Speculation continues to circle Daniel Farke as Leeds United’s manager going into the 2025-26 Premier League campaign despite his spectacular work as Elland Road boss this season.

The records have tumbled under the German gaffer this season. The first time Leeds have ever reached 100 points and by some distance, the most points Leeds have ever obtained in just one solitary season.

Farke has the best win ratio of any Leeds manager after clocking up 190 points in two seasons, winning an astonishing 61 of his 104 matches – losing only 19 times and watching a whopping 202 Leeds goals.

And yet, Farke could be replaced. The 49ers are considering a new gaffer, largely because of Farke’s record in the Premier League with Norwich, where he was given little funding and had to play youngsters.

Jose Mourinho would be open to replacing Daniel Farke at Leeds

Before Leeds’ promotion, Fenerbahce manager and footballing icon Jose Mourinho remarked he would be tempted to return to the Premier League and join a club not currently battling in the top-six places.

Leeds now slot into that category. Mourinho has subsequently been linked with Leeds and now it is said in The Telegraph that the two-time Champions League winner would be willing to take the job at Leeds.

Mourinho is not the only name to be linked with Leeds and certainly, The 49ers may choose to keep Farke especially after the vote of confidence he got from the Leeds crowd following the win over Plymouth.

The managers linked with a move to Leeds United so far

A report in a previous piece from The Telegraph said that three managers had been approached by Leeds. Former Barcelona and Arsenal star Giovanni van Bronckhorst is one, following his dismal Besiktas spell.

Carlo Ancelotti’s son Davide, who has worked as an assistant with his Father at Bayern Munich, Everton, Napoli and Real Madrid. The other, being former PSV Eindhoven and Benfica manager Roger Schmidt.

Elsewhere, Bodo/Glimt’s Kjetil Knutsen and Cesc Fabregas, who is starring for Como in Serie A after winning promotion last season, are also contenders. But surely, Farke is given a few months at least.
