Harry Kane has been sensational for the German giants since joining from Spurs in 2023.
The England captain has scored an astonishing 98 goals in 103 games across all competitions, with 70 in 67 Bundesliga outings.
Now 32 years old, Kane still has two years to run on the deal he signed in 2023, which keeps him at Bayern Munich until 2027.
However, German outlet BILD report that there is a £56.7m release clause in his contract, which can be triggered in the summer of 2026.
Spurs sold Kane to Bayern for £86m, so would they really be tempted to bring him back shortly before his 33rd birthday?
New Tottenham boss Thomas Frank, who replaced Ange Postecoglou in the summer, admitted he would love to see the prolific striker back at Spurs, though he suggested it may not be realistic.
“I didn’t know there was a clause,” Frank said. “He is an unbelievable player who did fantastic for Spurs and is doing fantastic for Bayern. Top player. I think there’s a lot of Tottenham fans, including myself, who would like to see Kane back.
Personally, I don’t think he will do it right now. He’ll probably stay at Bayern and continue performing well. He was top scorer last year, won the championship and he’s doing fantastic now.
I don’t know what he’s thinking. Myself, I’m a traveller, I like to explore things. He’s been here for many years so why not enjoy Bayern a little more? But he’s welcome—if he wants to join us, he’s more than welcome!”
Meanwhile, The Sun report that Barcelona could make a move for Kane next summer as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who turned 37 in August and is in the final year of his contract.
Kane’s clause is only believed to be active if he informs Bayern of his intention to leave before the end of January. Tottenham also reportedly have first refusal on any deal, but it all depends on whether the striker actually wants to leave Germany.
Back in April, Kane told ESPN:
“I’m not sure. I’ve said throughout my whole career, I’m not someone who likes to think too far ahead. I’m extremely happy here. I think we have a fantastic team, fantastic coaching staff and I just feel like whilst I’m in the best condition, I want to play at the highest level possible—and this is as high as it gets.
A lot can change in football in a short space of time, but ultimately my focus is here. I’m not thinking about any other league or team. At the moment, the flow is here at Bayern Munich.”

Kane’s potential Spurs comeback has sent social media into meltdown, with Tottenham supporters dreaming of a fairytale reunion.
One fan wrote: “Bring him home! Spurs without Kane never felt right. Imagine him back in Lilywhite scoring at the new stadium!”
