Max Aarons says Spurs have an ‘unbelievable’ talent in their ranks
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison has been described by Bournemouth’s Max Aarons as an “unbelievable” player who” lifts the players around him”.
The Spurs playmaker and the Cherries full-back were both on the books at Norwich between 2016 and 2018.
Speaking on YouTube channel FilthyFellas, Aarons recalled what it was like playing with Maddison.
“He is unbelievable,” Aarons said of the Tottenham man. “You would have all seen it, but it is his confidence on the pitch.
“I think that confidence lifts the players around him, because he is always wanting the ball even when you are under pressure.
“He is technically unbelievable, but I love his mindset too.”
While Maddison went on to join Leicester in 2018 before switching to Tottenham this summer, Aarons played for the Canaries until this summer, when he joined Bournemouth.
Both players have enjoyed upward trajectories in the game. Maddison hit the ground running at Spurs following his move from Leicester, and his injury-enforced absence is being felt at N17.
Likewise, Aarons quickly established himself in his new club’s first-team after becoming a legend at Norwich, but he too is sadly on the sidelines at present due to a hamstring injury.
James Maddison the missing piece for Tottenham Hotspur
It really does seem like Maddison has been the missing piece for Tottenham. They now finally have a Christian Eriksen-like player again in their ranks.
He has been so good that he and Son Heung-min have effectively made sure that Harry Kane hasn’t been missed since his move to Bayern Munich.
It’s such a shame that Maddison is still recovering from an ankle injury. Let’s hope he can return to fitness soon and resume spearheading Spurs’ charge into the upper echelons of the game once again.
