Ivan Perisic’s exit from Tottenham and the possibility of him returning to Hadjuk Split is a move that works for all parties, says Paul Robinson.
A source close to Perisic told Tottenham News that the Croatian winger, 34, will return to his native country in the summer to rejoin his boyhood club.
Perisic is unavailable for boss Ange Postecoglou due to a serious knee injury sustained in September and there is a strong possibility he has now played his last game for the club.
Former Tottenham goalkeeper Robinson thinks it is inevitable that Perisic will move on and a return to Croatia makes sense for all involved.
Speaking to Tottenham News, he said: “He’s picked up a big injury this season, he’s missed a huge chunk of this season, he’s set to miss even more.
“For him to do that at this stage of his career that’s exactly what it is, it’s a move that works for both parties. You look at how Ange plays, you question where he would fit into that.
“He doesn’t play with wing-backs, the full-backs do push on high but they’re not out-and-out wing-backs, Perisic is a wing-back or an attacking left-sided player, you look at the players that Tottenham have got in that attacking left-sided and right-sided area now he wouldn’t be touching the starting XI for the players they’ve got.
“I think it’s a move that makes sense for both parties with the age of the player, the injuries that he’s had and where both teams are at.”
In other Tottenham news, Robinson also reacted to news that Kalvin Phillips is a January target for Spurs.
