Tottenham’s hopes of signing Conor Gallagher from Chelsea this month are not completely over and done with just yet.

Spurs are looking to sign Gallagher as Ange Postecoglou seeks a new number eight in his midfield.

A number of different reports have done the rounds. Some have suggested Gallagher simply does not want to sign for Spurs, while others have said that the Chelsea skipper is the player Tottenham would love to sign the most regardless of his stance.

And according to journalist Ben Jacobs, there is a chance Chelsea will sell Gallagher to Spurs this month.

Chelsea willing to accept £60m package from Tottenham for Conor Gallagher

Taking to his social media account over on X last night, the respected journalist Jacobs suggested that Chelsea would likely accept a £60m package from Spurs for Gallagher.

“Conor Gallagher is not ‘actively’ for sale, but if the right offer arrives, Chelsea will consider it. I am told a guaranteed fee of around £45m and an overall package of £55-60m would likely be accepted. There is some flexibility, depending on structure, but broadly speaking Chelsea expect a similar number to the one they asked for Mason Mount. Spurs are yet to discount moving for Gallagher having tried late last window. But back then it’s understood they didn’t want to pay above £35m. Chelsea’s policy is to contemplate offers for any player with less than two years left on their contract, presuming extension talks are not progressing. At the moment, Gallagher is not close to a new deal. Gallagher wants to stay at Chelsea, and Mauricio Pochettino doesn’t want to lose him, so nothing is guaranteed in January, but a sale can’t be ruled out either just yet. Spurs are yet to open any formal talks this window. But with Timo Werner and Radu Drăgușin done, they are now expected to focus on a central midfielder,” Jacobs posted.

Gallagher to Spurs not going away

The longer this drags on, the more you feel that Conor Gallagher might actually end up a Tottenham player.

Despite being Chelsea’s skipper, the lack of contract seems a bit of a giveaway as to how the Blues ownership view the midfielder. Right now, it’s almost as if they see him as nothing but a saleable asset to help balance the books.

Eventually, this is just going to play into Tottenham’s hands and it would be no surprise to see Gallagher in north London come the end of the month.

If it does happen, Mauricio Pochettino will be furious. Meanwhile, Ange Postecoglou will be utterly delighted to get one of his top targets into the building.

This one isn’t going away for now. Gallagher, then, might well be on the move after all.
