“No place for such player in my team”: Ange Postecoglou angrily opens up to player after an unimpressive performance vs Manchester united.

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium…

Ange Postecoglou allowing Sergio Reguilon to move to a Manchester United side who were expected to be direct rivals shows the defender has little future at Tottenham, according to Paul Robinson.

The left-back spent the first half of the season on loan at Old Trafford but was sent back this month, while he had been thought to be a prime target for Borussia Dortmund [Patrick Berger, 19 December] for the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old hasn’t played for Spurs for over 18 months after spending last season at Atletico Madrid and Robinson doesn’t see any place for him under the current manager.

With Destiny Udogie having made the left-back spot his own, and being rewarded with a new contract already this season, Spurs clearly appear to have moved on.

So with Robinson convinced that Postecoglou’s verdict on Reguilon has been made clear already a permanent exit is now likely to be on the cards, either this month or in the summer.

The BBC Sport pundit exclusively told Tottenham News“The fact that they let him go on loan to Manchester United speaks volumes about what the manager thinks of the player.

“Ange is quite strong, he’s stern, he knows what he wants and he knows the type of player he wants. Whether it’s Eric Dier, whether it’s Sergio Reguilon, regardless of who you arewhat name you’ve got, if you’re not his type of player he’ll let you move on.

“And the fact he went to Manchester United at the start of the season, let’s be honest, we didn’t foresee the poor season they would have after finishing third last year and winning the League Cup, putting a trophy in the cabinet, we expected Manchester United to kick on this year.

“And he let him go to Manchester United who were potentially a direct rival for European places, so in that way, you can read between the lines that with the manager the player’s not for him.”

Spurs dominated United at Old Trafford on Sunday 14 January, but could only draw 2-2 in the end as they kept their eight-point gap in the Premier League.

In other Tottenham news, Robinson has reacted to another possible exit that will involve far bigger money.
