REPORTS – Talks ongoing, Manchester united suddenly show interest to sign £25m rated Tottenham star [Not Reguilon]
Manchester United are believed to be keen on signing Tottenham’s Ryan Sessegnon as they search for a new left-back.
The Red Devils have already sent one Tottenham full-back, Sergio Reguilon, back to north London.
However, reports have suggested Sessegnon is a player who has been considered by the management at Old Trafford. The former Fulham man is currently injured again, adding to the frustration of his spell in general at Spurs.
And speaking on the potential of Sessegnon signing for United, journalist Dean Jones has suggested it won’t be happening.
Ryan Sessegnon to Manchester United unlikely to happen
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jones has suggested a deal to send Sessegnon to United just does not make sense.
“Manchester United signing Ryan Sessegnon doesn’t make much sense to me at all. He is a player that is consistently aggravated by injuries. If his career had taken off like it could have after he left Fulham, I could see why he might be in that pathway. But, at the moment, I see Ryan Sessegnon links as not being much greater than people saying, ‘Manchester United have got a problem at left-back because they’ve let Sergio Reguilon go. Who have they looked at in the past and who might be available?’ I think Ryan Sessegnon probably fits into that bracket. Manchester United are absolutely plagued by injuries at the moment, and signing someone like Ryan Sessegnon would make no sense at all,” Jones said.
A pointless deal
This one seems daft anyway when you take into account the different factors at play.
Sessegnon, as Jones says, has barely played for why United suddenly think he’s going to find fitness and help them is almost as baffling as their transfer strategy in general.
Secondly, why would Tottenham let him join United? They are a top four rival and if Sessegnon did somehow find form, then Spurs would be simply giving a player to a rival club.
Sessegnon needs to get himself going at Spurs really. His time at the club since his £25m move has been rotten thanks to injuries and he needs to try and get that behind him.
