“He needs to improve physically”: Ange Postecoglou now feeling reluctant to move on with the signing of £25m rated gem after figuring out his physique is not suitable for ‘Ange ball’

Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur could be able to sign Arthur Vermeeren for £25 million in the January transfer window.

That is according to Football.London, which has reported an area where Vermeeren would need to work on if he was to be a success at Tottenham.

So, what has been reported about Arthur Vermeeren and Tottenham Hotspur? Let’s take a look.

Tottenham Hotspur linked with Arthur Vermeeren

Well, according to Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Arthur Vermeeren from Royal Antwerp in the January transfer window.

The report has claimed that other Premier League clubs are also keen on the 18-year-old central midfielder.

Spurs have scouted the Belgium international this season. Antwerp could sell the teenager for £25 million in the January transfer window, but there could be a loan-back involved.

Football.London has noted that Vermeeren “is a raw product who would need to improve physically for the rigours of the English game”.

My View: Tottenham Hotspur need to be careful about spending £25 million on Arthur Vermeeren

In my opinion, Tottenham Hotspur have to think twice before spending £25 million on Arthur Vermeeren.

Yes, I know that Vermeeren has been very impressive this season. The central midfielder has scored one goal and given three assists in 20 Jupiler Pro League matches and has scored one goal and given two assists in six UEFA Champions League games.

Manchester United have been linked with Vermeeren. Arsenal are also interested.

But, Vermeeren is only 18 and is playing in the Belgian domestic league. I do not think that the 5ft 9in midfielder is worth £25 million.

Spurs would be paying that sum for Vermeeren’s potential. He is 18 now and could take a few years to develop fully. Tottenham need to think more about the immediate future.
