FABRIZIO ROMANO – Despite hijack attempt from Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur are still in pole position to sign ‘exceptional’ Erling Haaland’s teammate in this window after recent developments. Deal might be totally sealed in the next days.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Tottenham really want to sign Antonio Nusa and pushing to get the deal done.
Spurs have signed two players so far, Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin, but they are not done yet as they want to cap off the window with a deal in place for the highly-rated youngster Antonio Nusa.
They have been in talks with Club Brugge for a while regarding a potential deal for their promising young talent, Antonio Nusa.
Recent reports suggested that talks are continuing with Spurs keen on getting a deal wrapped up as soon as possible to avoid it turning into a race as several top clubs are also said to eyeing Nusa.
Transfer reporter Fabrizio Romano has now offered an update on the ongoing transfer saga and explained the reasons behind the urgency of the representatives from the North London outfit to finalise a deal for the wonder kid.
He told GiveMeSport:
“They really want him because they believe Antonio Nusa is going to be a special player. He is a special talent in a position where Tottenham need someone for the present and future, so that is why they are pushing.
“They also know that there are other clubs interested in Antonio Nusa, especially in England, so they want to be fast and close the deal as soon as possible.
“Tottenham are going to have new contacts with Club Brugge in the next days again for Nusa. I think this is going to be their big focus in the next days.”
However, it has been reported that the 18-year-old is not inclined to leave the club this month, and discussions may lead to a deal being finalised for the summer, with Nusa potentially remaining on loan for the rest of the season.
In the Belgian Pro League, the Norwegian has scored three goals and contributed two assists in 15 appearances.
Spurs are hoping to agree a deal this month which will see the player being loaned back to the club for the rest of the season, an arrangement similar to Destiny Udogie’s.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly still at the front of the queue to sign Club Brugge winger Antonio Nusa amid interest from Premier League rivals Newcastle United.
The 18-year-old is being linked with a move away from Club Brugge after making a significant impression for the Belgian side.
Nusa, who has made a total of 63 appearances during his time with the club, has scored four goals and provided three assists in 27 competitive games this season.
The youngster’s performance has caught the attention of a number of Premier League clubs, including Tottenham and Newcastle.
A recent report claimed that Spurs had opened talks with Club Brugge over a possible move for the highly-rated teenager.
According to Football Insider, Tottenham are still in pole position to sign Nusa despite Newcastle’s attempts to steal a march on the North London club.
The Magpies have allegedly held internal discussions about pursuing a deal for Nusa, who has been identified as a potential replacement for Miguel Almiron.
The Paraguay international could be on his way out of Newcastle after it was revealed Saudi Pro League side Al Shabab had reached an agreement with the Magpies.
While Eddie Howe‘s side have entered the race for Nusa, Tottenham remain favourites to sign the Norway international.
With Newcastle showing a keen interest, Spurs are determined to reach an agreement with Club Brugge as soon as possible.
The Belgium side are in a strong position when it comes to negotiating a transfer, with Nusa currently under contract until the summer of 2027.
If Tottenham are able to get a deal over the line, Nusa would likely return to Club Brugge on loan for the remainder of the current campaign.
Spurs have already been active in the January market, having recruited Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin on loan and permanent deals respectively.
