“We are always alert”: Ange Postecoglou finally broke silence on the remaining transfer window plans, Antonio Nusa link and Brighton swap deal request [Full Details]

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has been speaking to the press about the January transfer window, and insists he is happy with the business done by the club so far, but suggested they are ready to make further moves if possible.

In a rather uncharacteristically swift and clinical January transfer window, Tottenham have already signed two players to reinforce the areas in Ange Postecoglou‘s squad that needed it the most.

Timo Werner arrived on a loan deal from RB Leipzig until the end of the season, adding extra firepower to the Spurs attack.

Shortly after, 21-year-old defender Radu Dragusin signed on a permanent basis from Genoa, providing much-needed cover and competition in the centre of defence.

Tottenham have also managed to offload a number of fringe players this month, but it is thought the club are keen to sign more players, too. According to The Independent, Spurs will look to bring in a central midfielder before the end of the window.

The North London side are also in the hunt for Antonio Nusa, with a €30m (£25.7m) deal on the cards (The Athletic).

What’s next for Spurs in the January transfer window?

So, it seems the final week of the transfer window could be a busy one for Spurs, but what does Ange Postecoglou think? In his latest press conference (via Football.London), he was asked about the plan and the business the club has done.

He said: “In terms of the rest of the transfer window, I was really pleased that the initial objectives we had in our head, which were someone in at centre-half and someone in the forward positions, that we ticked those off pretty early.

“And it’s not just been that we did them early, but they’re two guys who have really benefitted from having 10 days in the building with us, training, adjusting and all that. Both Timo and Radu are both in a really good place to help us going forward.

“As for what happens with the rest of it going forward, as I said last time, we’re always alert and doing work and if we can improve the squad we’ll look to do that. And if there are potentially any outgoings, we’re ready for that depending on what happens.

“I think we’re in a decent place where the anxiety going into it and thinking where did we really need to help the squad, especially in this period, I think we’re in a good place now.”

I think we have made a lot of progress this month already, and anything else would be a real bonus at this stage. I expect a couple more players to move on, and maybe the Nusa deal to be finalised. A central midfield upgrade would be incredible, but I’m not holding my breath.
