NEWS IN – Arsenal legend Thierry Henry makes surprise admission about Harry Kane that might anger Spurs fans after a woeful loss against Xabi Alonso side Leverkusen [Full story link in comment]
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has made a surprise admission that he would be happy to see ex-Tottenham star Harry Kane win a trophy at Bayern Munich.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Henry may have disappointed Arsenal fans by admitting he wants the man who was so often a thorn in the Gunners’ side to win a trophy. The Arsenal legend heaped praise on Kane as a professional on and off the pitch and hopes that the English striker can crown his stellar career with a trophy. Although, with Leverkusen so strong, the Bundesliga may be slipping away.
WHAT HENRY SAID
Speaking to TalkSport, Henry said: “I want Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal to do well. After that, it would be great for the big man [Kane] to somehow grab a trophy. We all know that’s what he’s been chasing for a long time. So we’ll see if he can do it at Bayern Munich, that would be great for him.
“Having said that, Bayer Leverkusen look like they’re not slowing down. But hopefully he can do it. We always talk about Kane and how great he is – and he is great – it will be a shame if he leaves the game without something under his belt other than goals. But I think a guy like him, the way he is on and off the field, you want him to win something.”
DID YOU KNOW?
Despite scoring 386 goals for club and country and winning countless individual accolades, Kane has never won a trophy. The Englishman will be dreaming of breaking his trophy duck in Germany but may only have the Champions League as an option this season.
WHAT NEXT FOR KANE?
With Bayer Leverkusen looking incredibly strong this season, Bayern have an uphill battle if they are to win the Bundesliga. They are still one of the favourites for the Champions League, however, and face Lazio in the Round of 16 on Wednesday.
