Tottenham Hotspur have a new problem on their hands as Ryan Sessegnon has picked up a fresh injury.

Spurs have been very unlucky with injuries this season, and Ange Postecoglou would be very disappointed with the latest setback.

The 23-year-old has struggled with injury problems this season. After missing 11 months of action following hamstring surgery, he returned to action in the FA Cup clash against Burnley.

According to journalist, Alasdair Gold, just when it looked like he was stepping up on his recovery, he picked up another injury while playing for the U-21 side against West Ham at Hotspur Way.

He fell on the ground after awkwardly hitting a cross into the box. Soon after he received medical treatment and couldn’t walk. He moved to the training complex on crutches, and it seems he could be out for a while again.

He was once seen as an exciting young player when he was at Fulham, but recurrent injuries are hampering his progress.

“He lay there on the turf for a while, getting attention from the physios before moving to the side of the pitch,” wrote Gold for Football London.

“It soon became clear that the young full-back could not walk back into the building unaided and crutches emerged for him to get himself inside the training complex as half-time came.”

Tottenham could delve into the transfer market

During the January window, Spurs offloaded Djece Spence to Genoa as a part of the deal to bring Radu Dragusin.

The 23-year-old defender failed to make a positive impression, and Postecoglou made his decision that he was not going to be a part of his long-term plans.

However, Sessegnon is a different case. He can not only play as a left-back but also as a left-winger. He is a fantastic player, but his body is betraying him at the moment.

This could force Tottenham to delve into the market to sign a new full-back in the summer window. Or else, they could sign a versatile centre-back who is capable of playing on the flanks.
