“He deserves nothing but RESPECT from Spurs fans”: Jamie Carragher fires in a brutal message to Spurs fans who ridicule Harry Kane after 4:0 win against Aston Villa [Full story link in comment]

Jamie Carragher has admitted that he feels sorry for Harry Kane, given the amount of ridicule that the striker gets despite consistently delivering world-class performances.

As one would have expected from Kane when he made the switch to Bayern Munich in the summer, the striker is on course to have a record-breaking season for the Bundesliga side.

The 30-year-old has already found the back of the net 33 times and provided nine assists and he looks nailed on to finish the season with more than 50 goal contributions at the current pace.

However, things have not gone smoothly for Bayern as a whole, with the club now in danger of failing to win the Bundesliga for the first time in 12 years.

While Thomas Tuchel’s men are still going strong in the Champions League, having sealed progression to the quarterfinal, they need a miracle to win the league, with Bayer Leverkusen sitting 10 points clear.

Harry Kane deserves nothing but respect from Spurs fans

That has led to many people on social media, including Spurs fans, ridiculing Kane for the possibility of another trophy-less season, but Carragher has admitted that he is at a loss to understand why the striker gets so much hate.

The pundit told CBS Sports on Paramount+ (05/03/24 at 7:20 pm): “I do feel for him because he has been Bayern Munich’s best player. There is always this sort of criticism of him or maybe people laughing at him because he never really won a trophy at all at Tottenham.

“He goes to Bayern Munich, serial winners, and then he doesn’t win a trophy. I don’t understand the ridicule. This is a guy who is one of the top strikers in world football, certainly from an English point of view, we should be proud that one of our players has gone over to the Bundesliga, one of the biggest teams in the world and he is producing one of the best seasons we have seen from an English player playing abroad.

“People ridicule him, whether it’s Spurs fans, who should actually be proud of him that one of their players is playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world and he has come through their academy.

“Yes, they aren’t going to win a trophy, but next season, Bayern Munich, I am pretty sure, will win the league and he will finish with trophies. So, I don’t get the ridicule. He is one of the best players in the world and I love him to bits.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While I understand Spurs fans who are apathetic to Kane’s fortunes now that he has left Tottenham, I am quite disheartened to see that so many Spurs supporters are actively taking joy in the striker’s misfortunes.

The 30-year-old was a model professional during his time at N17 and showed incredible loyalty to the club. He even chose to go abroad last summer when he could have run his contract down and joined a rival. He is Tottenham’s biggest modern-day legend and deserves nothing but respect.
