JUST IN – Tottenham has sent senior scout to watch ‘absolutely magnificent’ centre-back with four assists this season after Mickey Van de Ven’s fresh injury [Full story link in comment]
Tottenham Hotspur recently sent one of their top scouts to have a look at one centre-back as they weigh up a potential summer bid for the 23-year-old.
Spurs put a lot of their Premier League rivals to shame in January, managing to make two notable signings while many were unable to do anything significant.
One of those players who joined Ange Postecoglou’s side was Radu Dragusin, with the Romanian coming in to rival Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero.
Tottenham monitoring Jacob Greaves
But perhaps Tottenham may be looking to strengthen further at the heart of their defence. Because according to a report from the Daily Mirror (10/3; page 61), Tottenham had one of their senior scouts watch Jacob Greaves in action for Hull City in their goalless draw with Preston North End at the start of the month.
Greaves has barely missed a minute for Liam Rosenior’s side, who held Championship leaders Leicester City to a 2-2 draw at the weekend. And they only find themselves outside of the play-off places right now on goal difference. Only six sides have conceded fewer goals in the second tier so far this season than Hull.
Spurs move may be hard to turn down
Greaves has been ‘absolutely magnificent‘ this season, according to Rosenior. And he has even contributed four assists for the Tigers.
The youngster has already made 170 appearances for Hull in his career, and has captained the side on a handful of occasions this season.
The Mirror noted that Everton are also monitoring Greaves as they brace themselves for bids for Jarrad Branthwaite, who is wanted by the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea. Tottenham have also been linked with Branthwaite.
But it is an exciting time to join Spurs. So if Ange Postecoglou’s side do make a move, it should not be a surprise if he snubs Everton to head to North London.
