With the international break around the corner, some national team managers are going to have to make some tough decisions ahead of the Euros, and that includes Denmark, where Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s situation is worrying.

The Spurs midfielder, who used to be a key member of any manager’s squad at club level up until the arrival of Ange Postecoglou, has been playing less and less, to the point where the Danish media are worried.

Ekstrabladet have two separate articles mentioning the Tottenham midfielder, as they first explain that Christian Eriksen’s situation ‘isn’t quite as serious’ as that of the 28-year-old.

Højbjerg is now seen as a ‘fringe player’ at the London club and is ‘rarely selected’ by his manager to be a part of the starting XI.

To date, the midfielder has made just eight appearances from the off from the 29 games he has played this season, with the remaining 21 seeing him come off the bench.

It’s pointed out by the newspaper that he has played 90 minutes just once this year under Postecoglou, and it’s clear the manager ‘doesn’t have much faith’ in Højbjerg.

If this continues, it will be a problem for the national team, and it’s one they clearly would like to see rectified ahead of this summer’s Euros.
