Tottenham Hotspur were in pretty dire straits at the end of last season, finishing eighth in the Premier League table and lacking a manager and director of football.

However, Spurs quickly bounced back, and appointing Ange Postecoglou as manager proved a real masterstroke from Daniel Levy.

Tottenham hit the ground running at the start of the season and looked as though they could’ve been dark horses for the title initially.

Then came that memorable meeting with Chelsea, where Spurs were down to nine men, and yet they stuck to their guns and nearly came away with a draw.

Now, with the run-in looming, Tottenham remain well in contention to finish in the Premier League’s top four and reach the Champions League.

Not only that, but Postecoglou has overseen two very fruitful transfer windows, bringing in a host of top talents with a bright future ahead of them.

What has Gary Neville said about Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou?

Gary Neville, speaking on the latest episode of The Overlap, couldn’t sing the Tottenham manager’s praises highly enough.

“Postecoglou, we knew from Celtic but he was third choice for Spurs,” he said. “And all of a sudden he smashes it out the park when it comes to football, he has blown us all away.”

Tottenham have had their fair share of false dawns in recent years, but now they finally have a manager who gets the club and is delivering on the pitch.

Not since Mauricio Pochettino has there been this feeling that Spurs have a manager who’s in it for the long haul and will look to build something brilliant at N17.

It’s good to hear the likes of Neville speak so highly of Postecoglou. Now let’s see what happens in the run-in and Spurs’ pursuit of a top-four finish.
