Ange Postecoglou’s men were beaten by title-hopefuls City last night, which slashed their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
That feat has now gone to fourth-placed Aston Villa, who can’t be caught by the North Londoners heading into the final day of the season.
Postecoglou’s first season in charge has certainly given many supporters hope, but still, the club remain trophyless since 2008.
Mido has offered his view as to why that is.
Mido claims Daniel Levy is only bothered about making money
Mido, who has made 61 appearances for Spurs, took to X on Wednesday afternoon to offer a scathing verdict on Levy’s intentions.
“It’s a shame that such a historical club like Tottenham can’t win any trophies and it’s clear that there is only one thing in the owners and boards head and it’s only making money!! I really believe that Spurs fans deserve better!!
“I mean the club got everything needed to go to the top!! Unfortunately this will never happen with the people who are running the club right now!!”
That has been a major criticism of Levy’s over the last few years, with Spurs’ net spend far lower than that of their competitors, however, he would argue that was a necessary measure to take in order to facilitate the new stadium.
This summer will be pivotal
Now that the stadium is up and running, Levy will be under huge scrutiny to spend in the fast-approaching summer transfer window.
Postecoglou has already hinted that he wants big changes and it seems the Australian is keen for a mini rebuild.
If Tottenham are to bridge the gap between them and the top four, they’ll need to sign a top-class striker to finally replace Harry Kane.
