John Wenham does not believe Ange Postecoglou’s behaviour during and after the defeat against Manchester City indicates he is unhappy at Tottenham.
The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose was surprised by the comments that Postecoglou made after the 2-0 loss at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday (14 May).
Speaking after the match, the Australian said to the press (via The Standard, 15 May), “No, I think the last 48 hours have revealed to me the foundations are fairly fragile”.
During the match, the Spurs boss could be seen arguing with a supporter in the crowd.
However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes these were simply signs of a stressed-out manager, rather than an unhappy one.
“I understand Postecoglou wants to improve the levels at the club, but supporters are also well within their rights to support any outcome which stops Arsenal from winning the Premier League,” Wenham said.
“His comments were a little bit strange, but I don’t think they suggest he is unhappy or planning to leave the club anytime soon.
“Tottenham have lost five of their last six games, he is going to feel stressed, and the supporter must have said something annoying for him to turn around and retaliate.
“I’m not completely sure who his comments were about, I think it’s been left a bit open-ended, but hopefully we can move on from this with a win against Sheffield United.”
