Manchester United supporters stuck up for Steve Bruce after he was recently insulted by Newcastle fans.
A lot has changed since September 2021. Back then when Cristiano Ronaldo made his second debut for Manchester United, he did so against a Newcastle side managed by Steve Bruce.
Bruce was into his final months as Newcastle boss, before they were taken over and he was replaced by Eddie Howe, and a more sizeable transfer budget.
Despite growing up as a Newcastle fan, Bruce is not held in fond regard by the club’s supporters after his last managerial stint there.

Steve Bruce was in attendance for Manchester United’s recent match with Newcastle, in which Rasmus Hojlund scored the winner in a 3-2 victory.
Bruce recounted how Manchester United fans in the stadium were full of support for current manager Erik ten Hag, and hit out at social media criticism of the boss.
The Telegraph reports how Bruce was subject to abuse from the away Newcastle contingent when in attendance at Old Trafford.
With this, a Manchester United supporter brutally responded: “He’s won more than your entire club.”
The comments were pretty close. Steve Bruce was an absolute force for Manchester United during the 1990s, a key part of Sir Alex Ferguson‘s great team.
Newcastle do have marginally more trophies than Bruce – but they were all won before he was born back in 1960.
