Barcelona place eight players on the transfer list as the club looks to raise funds for huge summer signing

Barcelona are prepared to offload eight players in order to free up for funds for new additions.

Barcelona have reportedly placed eight players on the transfer list in a bid to free up funds for a big summer signing.

The Blaugrana are still in the middle of immense financial difficulties and cannot freely splash the cash without any repercussions.

They’ve had difficulty complying with La Liga’s regulations because of the debt they are in, while they have also struggled to register signings immediately in recent times.

The Catalan club want to strengthen this summer to ensure they can compete with Real Madrid and have been heavily linked with Spain Euro 2024 heroes Nico Williams and Dani Olmo.

However they must sell players in order to have the correct budgets in place.

And according to The Athletic, there are a total of eight players who were made available for the right fee.

Big earners Frenkie de Jong and Ronaldo Araujo are both named on the list but both suffered injuries which will almost definitely halt any transfers.

Raphinha is also said to be dispensable but does not want to leave Barca, while the club are very much happy for his compatrior Vitor Roque to move on.

With too many centre-backs on the books, both Clement Lenglet and Mikayil Faye are up for grabs.

The former spent last season on loan at Villa but is still on sizeable wages, while the latter’s transfer value of Faye hasn’t brought much interest just yet.

Ferran Torres, a £48.4 million signing after just one-and-a-half seasons at Manchester City, is also on the list despite his versatility and the fact only Robert Lewandowski scored more goals for the club than him last season.

Reports say top target Williams is set to stay at Athletic, though Barca are still looking hard to bring back Olmo.

The 26-year-old is a Barcelona boy and after playing for Espanyol, spent time in the La Masia academy before experiencing success with Dinamo Zagreb and RB Leipzig.

Olmo did have a £50.5 million release clause in his deal but that has no expires and so the dynamics of a transfer have changed.
