Leeds United look set to miss out on signing Jonathan Rowe to Marseille despite bidding £7million for the forward, according to The Sun .

the French club are poised to agree an £8m deal with Norwich City for the 21-year-old.

The Whites only bid £7m for the England Under-21 international and now appear to have lost out to the Ligue 1 giants.

Daniel Farke will be disappointed to potentially miss out on signing the winger, especially after

losing Crysencio Summerville to West Ham .

A fresh face on the wing is needed at Elland Road to provide competition for the likes of Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto moving into the season.

Rowe could have proved to be the ideal signing for the Whites but it appears that the fee is too steep for them to cough up.will be frustrating to fans that Leeds look set to lose out to Marseille by just £1m but the hierarchy clearly has a budget in mind.A deal for Jesurun Rak-Sakyi has also fallen through and with the Championship opener against Portsmouth coming up, the Whites need new signings quickly.

Signing the Cyrstal Palace starlet or Rowe could have proved to be excellent business but now other targets will have to be assessed by Farke and Co.

In other Leeds news, the Whites may look to repeat their Crysencio Summerville trick with a new transfer this summer.
