According to ABC Gazetesi, Newcastle United scouts were in attendance during Galatasaray’s 2-1 win against Hatayspor on Friday.
They were there to keep a close eye on Baris Alper Yilmaz, who played the full 90 minutes as a left-winger.
Aston Villa scouts were also present and monitoring the Turkey international, so evidently competition for his signature will be rife.
Yilmaz has been linked to Arsenal this summer with some reports even suggesting the Gunners were readying a £17.1m bid.
The Turkey international is valued at around £25m, though, that fee may be negotiable.

Yilmaz has gathered a lot of interest this summer and that’s largely due to his terrific versatility.
The 24-year-old can operate off both flanks, as a number 10, a second striker and even at full-back, so evidently he’s a very intelligent player.
The Galatasaray man has been compared to Tottenham Hotspur and Real Madrid legend Gareth Bale, as per GS Gazete.
