Konstantinos Mavropanos joined West Ham United from Bundesliga club Stuttgart this time last year.
West Ham director of football Tim Steidten led the charge to bring Konstantinos Mavropanos to the London Stadium.
However, the 26-year-old hasn’t quite hit the heights that were expected of him, and he has already been linked with a summer move to Juventus.
He actually admitted back in April that it took him some time to get up to speed with David Moyes’s footballing philosophy and tactics.
The Hammers paid £19 million to sign Mavropanos last summer (The Guardian), but he’s fallen well down the pecking order at the London Stadium under Julen Lopetegui now.
The 27-capped Greece international is clearly behind Jean-Clair Todibo and Max Kilman in the fight for a regular starting spot at West Ham.
So what’s the current situation? On paper, the former Arsenal man should be ideally suited to Premier League football, what with his imposing physique and powerful playing style.
However, he’s very prone to making mistakes, and was at fault for numerous goals that we conceded last season – notably during our clashes with Crystal Palace and Brentford, when he cost us points with appalling errors.
And it seems like West Ham could be set to make a ruthless decision regarding the centre-back.

The Greek centre-back’s future may well lie away from the London Stadium.
Now, Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd definitely should be moved on before Mavropanos, but if Lopetegui brings in another centre-back, ‘Dinos’ could be sold as well.
And now West Ham could be prepared to ruthlessly axe Mavropanos, according to a report from Give Me Sport.
It has been claimed that the Hammers value the 26-year-old at around £17 million (Calciomercato.it), but I’m sure the owners would look for much more than that if they do decide to sell him this summer.
At the end of the day, he’s still a very capable defender who just needs to fine-tune his game slightly.
Put it this way, if West Ham do manage to sell Zouma this summer, I definitely think Lopetegui should keep Konstantinos Mavropanos.
We need strength in depth in every single department, if we are to make some genuine progress this season under our new manager.
Despite the surprise claims about Dinos, I think we’ll keep hold of him for at least one more season.
However, if he fails to impress, there’s no doubt that he’ll be shipped out of the club next year.
