Dimitar Berbatov shares what he honestly thinks about Tottenham signing Dominic Solanke for £65m.
Tottenham have signed a new striker in the shape of Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth.
The England international has arrived at Spurs in a deal worth £65m, and it’s fair to say this is a very exciting signing.
Dimitar Berbatov knows a thing or two about playing up front for Tottenham, and speaking on Premier League Productions, the pundit has shared his verdict on this signing.
Berbatov is excited by the arrival of Solanke, claiming that he thinks he will bring the quality in the attack that Tottenham need.
What Dimitar Berbatov thinks about Dominic Solanke signing
The Bulgarian shared his verdict on the arrival of Solanke.
“We will find out, but he scored 19 goals last season in 38 games. It’s a great thing to do. Hopefully he will bring that form into Spurs to help them score goals because they need to be scoring goals, not leaking goals,” Berbatov said.
“Hopefully they start on the right foot and keep going upwards. Dominic can help them because he is 26, he’s tall, he’s athletic, he scores goals.
“He can shoot the ball, he scores some really good goals for a striker and he can bring that quality up front that Spurs need.”
Dominic Solanke could be just what Tottenham need
Berbatov is excited about this signing, and he has every right to be.
Solanke looks like he could be just what the doctor ordered at Tottenham.
He’s strong, he’s fast, he’s good on the ball, he’s clinical in front of goal, and he can also create.
Solanke may not necessarily be world-class in all of those attributes, but he blends them all together so well to be such an effective centre-forward option.
Spurs have needed a striker for over 12 months since the departure of Harry Kane, and now, they have an attacker who has proven he can do the business at Premier League level.
Some believe that Ivan Toney would’ve been a better signing than Solanke, but Spurs look to have signed the right player here.
