The Liverpool transfer boost is as clear as the Eddie Howe Newcastle admission.

Newcastle United fans are starting to fear they could be about to lose star winger Anthony Gordon to Liverpool after watching him in action on Saturday.
The England international started the Magpies first Premier League game of the season at St James’ Park against Southampton, which they won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Joelinton. In what was a feisty encounter, Newcastle had to play the majority of the match with just 10 men after Fabian Schar was sent off on 28 minutes for supposedly headbutting Ben Brereton Diaz.
Eddie Howe’s game plan immediately went out of the window following Schar’s sending off, leaving Gordon and Alexander Isak to operate as a two up front with relatively little service. The former Everton man was substituted on 70 minutes, replaced by Harvey Barnes on what was a frustrating afternoon for Gordon.The 23-year-old, who missed the majority of pre-season due to his extended break after being involved with England at the European Championships, looked off the pace and sluggish – a level below the performances he produced last term for the Magpies.
However, his performance had some Newcastle fans on social media worried Gordon’s head had been turned by interest earlier this summer by Liverpool, which they believe was a contributing factor in the winger’s poor display. One fan wrote on X: “Has @anthonygordon head been turned or was he not fit? He didn’t seem to be running and chasing the ball like normal.
