Amanda Staveley just sent an advice-message to Newcastle amid transition leaks

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Amanda Staveley was “forced out” of Newcastle as more and more “leaks” come out of the club.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested Magpies fans will now be watching the club and Darren Eales closely as they admired the former co-owners greatly.

According to the Daily Mail (31 August), Newcastle CEO Eales felt Staveley and husband Mehrdad Ghodoussi had too much power at the club.

The duo departed over the summer and sold their shares at St James’ Park in a sudden and shocking move.

They facilitated the Saudi-backed takeover in 2021 and stayed on as co-owners in a successful few years on Tyneside.

Wyness insisted Staveley and Ghodoussi were “very successful” in handling the transition and applauded them for their work at Newcastle.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “This has been leaked and there are so many leaks coming out of the club after Amanda Staveley’s departure.

“It looks like she was basically forced out.

“The fans are watching Newcastle and Darren Eales closely because they greatly admired Amanda and how she acted in the first year or two.

“They didn’t do anything knee-jerk, they were very successful in handling that transition.

“Staveley did things in a considered way and I’ve applauded them.

“But now there seem to be leaks of dissatisfaction at the top.”
