Alexander Isak HEAPS pressure on Newcastle after latest contract comments

Newcastle agree to include a release clause in Alexander Isak’s new contract

After remaining at the club this summer, TBR Football understands that Newcastle are continuing contract talks with Isak but an agreement is yet to be found.Newcastle have been in talks with Isak over a new deal for most of the year, and although nothing is in place, things have been progressing well.

Isak was on the radar of all Arsenal, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur this summer, but as mentioned, Newcastle did not entertain an exit and are anxious to agree new terms.

Newcastle are ready to make Isak the joint highest paid player at the club alongside Bruno Guimaraes, who signed a new contract earlier this year.

Interestingly, Guimaraes’ deal includes a release clause and Isak’s new terms will also include such a provision at the request of the player.

Newcastle accept that they will have to grant that request, given they did so for Guimaraes.

New sporting director Paul Mitchell has endured a difficult start at St James’ Park but is hoping that the club will be able to conclude Isak’s new deal before the end of the year, relieving some of the pressure that is mounting on him.

Viktor Gyokeres could play a significant role in Alexander Isak’s future

Over the international break, Sweden have played both Isak and Sporting CP striker Viktor Gyokeres alongside each other in a front two.

Both are two of the hottest strikers in Europe right now, and perhaps Gyokeres could play a significant role at either Arsenal or Newcastle in the future.

Arsenal are preparing a 2025 bid for Isak according to reports, deciding he’s the striker to take their project forwards.

However, if they are unsuccessful, perhaps they will turn to Gyokeres instead.

That being said, should Isak leave St James’ Park in the future as a result of his release clause, perhaps Newcastle could then turn to Gyokeres themselves. It’s no secret that Arsenal have a strong admiration for Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, a 24-year-old who is often now compared to Thierry Henry.

The #14 shirt is now vacant at Arsenal following Eddie Nketiah’s departure, but Newcastle certainly have no interest in Isak making the switch to north London.

Newcastle stood firm on their stance that Isak wasn’t for sale this summer, a decision that was also accepted by the striker.

And although the Sweden international has endured a relatively slow start to the new Premier League season, he’ll be hoping to improve on his impressive tally of 21 goals last term.
