Ally McCoist issues honest response when asked if Son Heung-min is world class.

Tottenham Hotspur have established themselves as one of the best footballing teams in the Premier League since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival.

Postecoglou has placed great emphasis on recruiting promising young talent, too, with the likes of Archie Gray and Wilson Odobert completing big-money moves to North London in the summer.

But, for all of Tottenham’s promise, do they actually have a player that’s world class?

Ally McCoist issued his honest response when asked if Son Heung-min lies in that bracket.

Ally McCoist says Son-Heung min is not world class

Speaking on talkSPORT (7:45am), Ally McCoist admitted that Tottenham’s talisman Son-Heung min is not world class.

“The fact of the matter is not recently, but over the career, he is on the cusp. He is on the cusp. No,” McCoist said.

Son hasn’t quite hit his usual heights so far this season having netted just twice in seven appearances across all competition.

Last term, the 32-year-old managed 17 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League – which is surely enough to consider him world class.

Micky van de Ven has potential to be world class

Tottenham centre-back Micky van de Ven certainly has the potential to be world class and is already well on his way to reaching that status.

Many would consider van de Ven among the top five defenders in the Premier League and this season, he’s shown more to his game on the ball.

The Dutchman has already laid on two assists from stepping out from the back and driving forward – using his electrifying pace.

There’s also a case to be made that Dominic Solanke could establish himself as world class if he has another prolific year.
