Amanda Staveley reportedly wants to appoint Eddie Howe if she becomes a minority owner at Tottenham Hotspur.
Various sources claim the Ripon-based businesswoman is eyeing an immediate return to football. Staveley and her husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi, were the public face of the Saudi-backed takeover but sold their Newcastle United shares earlier this year.The 51-year-old did not rule out a minority stake in another club last month amid links to Tottenham Hotspur. Staveley said: “My preference would have been to stay with Newcastle, but life doesn’t always work out exactly how you want it to.

“Mehrdad and I are keen to be hands-on. We’re hard-working people, I love to be very busy and to engage and I love football. Very sadly, we have to move on to other projects and that might involve us taking a stake in another club or buying another club and that’s difficult. But it’s possible.”The Sun now claim Staveley would want to appoint Howe as manager if given the reins in North London. Ange Postecoglou is not currently under pressure but the report suggests Staveley would be keen to rekindle her relationship with Howe.
The two were close at St James’ Park, with many believing Howe lost a layer of protection when Staveley left. Toon chiefs are already bracing for an FA approach given new-found uncertainty over Lee Carsley’s England future.
A move to Spurs seems unlikely and Howe has already distanced himself from the Three Lions job. He told reporters recently: “I absolutely want to stay at Newcastle but it has to be right for me and the club”.There’s absolutely no point in me saying I’m happy staying if the dynamic isn’t right. I absolutely love the club. I love the supporters. I love where I am at in my career. There is no better place for me to be. That is how I feel.”
