Newcastle United fans have called for the club to accept offers for Fabian Schar after reports of interest from across Europe and the Middle East.

Reports have claimed the Magpies will need to offer the 32-year-old a multi-year deal for him to commit to a new deal with less than a year remaining on his current contract.

With interest reportedly growing from clubs in the Premier League, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and France, many have suggested the club could cash in on him should a big offer arrive.

Schar remains an important player in Eddie Howe’s side and has made six appearances so far this season in the absence of Sven Botman and Jamaal Lascelles.

However, he will be 33 come the end of the season, and a multi-year contract would see him remain at St James’ Park into his mid-30s and closer to retirement.

Many also expect the centre-back to drop into more of a rotation role as the club continue to assess their options in defence, with big-money deals in mind.

In that case, it has been suggested the club should consider offers for the former Switzerland international should they arrive in January.

Schar joined Newcastle from Deportivo la Coruna in 2018 for just £3million and has since made 194 appearances for the club, establishing himself as a fans’ favourite.

Now, with speculation over his future growing, it is yet to be decided whether his long-term future remains at St James’ Park.

Following the reports of interest in his signature, fans took to social media and have named their price with “£30million” said to be enough to get a deal done.

Love Schar but at his age if we can get silly money for him (£30m+) then we need to sell and refresh the backline.

Maybe offer him a 2-year deal, but if a Saudi club comes in with a ridiculous offer, we should think about cashing in.

He’s a generational talent, by the way. So £70 million or above offers only. #nufc

He is 32, there’s no way we giving him a new contract on 80k whatever it is, yes he been great servant , but come on he is 32, we need a RCB with pace to sit alongside botman , unless he wants to sit on bench ,

Great player but as I’ve said. He’s not getting younger. 1 more year maybe. But getting a replacement has to be key.
