Newcastle United continue to be linked with Bournemouth winger Antoine Semenyo after a brilliant start to the season. The Cherries winger had played a part in 10 goals in his last 20 Premier League appearances for Andoni Iraola’s side prior to this weekend’s clash with Arsenal.
The Gunners are among the Premier League sides reportedly keen on signing the 24-year-old in the upcoming January transfer window. However, Eddie Howe’s side are also said to be in the mix.
The right-wing position is an area of the pitch Newcastle are in need of strengthening. The Magpies boss has tinkered with a number of options out on that right-hand side of the pitch with Jacob Murphy given the nod in this weekend’s defeat to Brighton.
In truth, the Magpies’ front line is struggling, having scored just eight goals in as many games. Football Insider claims that Bournemouth have slapped a £40-50million asking price on the head of Semenyo.
The Ghanaian winger was first linked with a move to Newcastle over the course of the summer, though the Toon failed to bring in a right-winger. Howe’s side will reportedly face competition from Tottenham Hotspur along with Arsenal for Semenyo.
Sporting director Paul Mitchell has spoken about the Magpies needing to look for value in the transfer market having missed out on signing Marc Guehi in the summer for a reported fee of £70million. Newcastle are still in the market for another centre-back, but the defeat to the Seagulls only highlighted the need for reinforcements in forward areas of the pitch.
Miguel Almiron is yet to score for Newcastle this season in the Premier League and has made just four appearances while Murphy has two assists to his name from eight games in the top flight in 2024/25.
